Open the tool →What is SEPA?
SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) is a payment integration that standardises euro-denominated bank transfers across more than 40 countries and territories like a domestic transaction. It works on the basis of IBAN and BIC and covers schemes such as SCT, SCT Instant and SDD.
What is SEPA? →SEPA or SWIFT?
SEPA is euro-only, cheap and fast; SWIFT is global and multi-currency but can involve intermediary bank charges and an exchange-rate margin. Assess which is suitable based on the corridor and the currency.
See the comparison →SEPA countries
The SEPA geographical scope includes 41 countries/territories; 26 of them use the euro. Turkey is not yet a member — it is at the candidate/application stage.

Frequently asked questions
What does SEPA briefly mean?
SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) is a payment integration that standardises euro-denominated bank transfers between participating countries like a domestic transaction. It works on the basis of IBAN and BIC.
More: What is SEPA? →Is Turkey included in SEPA?
No. Turkey is not currently within the SEPA geographical scope. The process and current status are tracked on this site with sources; unverified information is clearly marked.
Is SEPA or SWIFT cheaper?
In euros and when both parties are within SEPA scope, SEPA transfers are generally much cheaper and faster because there are no intermediary bank charges and, being euro→euro, no exchange-rate margin. SWIFT is used for non-SEPA countries and non-euro currencies. You can use our cost tool to compare.
Does the IBAN validation tool store my data?
No. The IBAN and BIC tools work entirely in your browser. The IBAN you enter is not logged, not written to localStorage, and not sent to analytics or any server.
